A moment in the park
Written by Summer Sinclair

A few weeks ago, I was out for a walk when two young women came along the path through a local park. One of them was blindfolded. The other was guiding her along, both of them laughing, clearly on a mission.
Of course I watched. I write romance. I had no choice.
About a hundred yards on, a young man was waiting, grinning from ear to ear, with an enormous bunch of flowers hidden behind his back.
The guide said something to her friend, then whipped the blindfold away.
The girl was overjoyed. He handed her the flowers, and then they were in each other's arms, kissing.
I have no idea who they were. Nineteen or twenty, perhaps. A boyfriend home from abroad? A blind date reveal? Who knows.
But it brought tears to my eyes, and I smiled all the way home.
That's why I write happy endings. Sometimes you get to see a real one, on an ordinary afternoon, in the middle of a park.
